Anyway, this local feminine hygiene wash brand called Orchid organised this cool contest where you just take a picture of yourself with a bunch of stuff (check out their FB Page to know more), you pose (as creative as possible) and take a picture! Oh yeah and then there's the whole "liking" the page and uploading the pic and tagging 5 friends but hey, for RM3,000.00, isn't this pretty much a piece of cake??? If there weren't any clauses I'd join them NAO. Like, NOWWW! You don't have to think about it, just take the damn picture and upload it NOW. Who doesn't want free money??? So here's the official press release (more formality, less vulgar version of the news).

The top three winners will take home total cash prizes of RM6,000, too!

Orchid, the up-and-coming feminine hygiene range, launched its first #BeYourself contest, in conjunction with its #Malu?TakMalu! campaign that empowers women, including helping them make their dreams of entertainment stardom come true!

MiG is Malaysia’s leading entertainment and talent management agency, headed by David Teo is partnering with Orchid to open up more possibilities and possible career option for talented #BeYourself contestant. Established in 1995, MiG has produced and distributed hundreds of movies and television series, and manages some of the best known stars in Malaysian entertainment.

Sazzy, who is Orchid’s first brand ambassador, represents the dynamism, intelligence, capability and multi-faceted character of modern Malaysian women.

Great News for Kidney Failure Patients!

National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia provides funding for Dialysis at Home

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Malaysia, a non-profit charity organisation that has expanded its role from being just a dialysis treatment provider, to becoming a one-stop national resource centre for all kidney-related matters, has announced a collaboration with Lucenxia Malaysia, a subsidiary of Adventa Berhad.

NKF has announced its program to resume funding and sponsorship of peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, where dialysis is done at the home of patients.

PD is a self-care, home- based dialysis treatment which frees the patient from the inconvenience of travelling to a haemodialysis (HD) centre three times a week. A variant of PD is Automated PD or APD where the procedure of dialysis is facilitated by a machine and done at night while the person is asleep. The person is free to do all daily activities during his or her waking hours.

NKF’s decision to resume funding of PD patients is in line with the Ministry of Health’s direction of PD Preferred policy, whereby all new patients are encouraged to receive PD as their preferred dialysis treatment modality.

Kidney disease is on the increase in Malaysia with approximately 2.5 million Malaysians having some form of kidney disease in 2014. Of this number about 35,000 people are on dialysis, with the number increasing to 7,000 each year.

“Given the rise in kidney disease in Malaysia, NKF will be supporting the Malaysian government’s decision to adopt PD Preferred Policy, as the treatment is more cost-effective and convenient for patients, since it is designed for use at home.  It is also less resource intensive when compared to traditional HD, and patients are in full control of their own dialysis treatment.” said Dato’ Dr. Zaki Morad, Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia.

In conjunction with NKF’s announcement, Lucenxia Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Adventa Berhad, has made a donation of RM76,800 to NKF to support the Dialysis at Home initiative through PD.

Lucenxia INTELLIS is an intelligent Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD) cycler designed for PD patients, to receive dialysis treatment at home during their sleep, so that they can enjoy greater quality of life, and have full freedom during the day.

“Every year, NKF needs to raise RM14.5 million to subsidize the dialysis treatments cost for more than 1,500 patients who seek treatment at our 26 dialysis centers nationwide.  This grant from Lucenxia will ease the burden on patients and on our organization as well. We hope that with the APD modality, we can now support PD while giving them better quality of life, and the freedom to continue their regular daytime activities. With the advanced technology from Lucenxia’s INTELLIS APD cycler, patients and caregivers can lead fuller lives, and able to return to work, as the treatment is done at the home of the patient during their sleep” added Dato’ Dr. Zaki Morad.

According to Lucenxia (M) Sdn Bhd’s Managing Director, Mr. Low Chin Guan, “Lucenxia is a proud product of Malaysia which has introduced many new concepts to possibility of APD, enabling patients to continue their employment and participate in daily activities with family and friends.  They are no longer constrained to thrice weekly trips to a dialysis center, as INTELLIS Dialysis at Home frees them and lets them regain control of their lives.  PD patients also generally do not suffer from the extreme high and low in energy level in-between hemodialysis treatment sessions.”

Be Good to Your Gut?

So, VITAGEN Malaysia has this new campaign called "Be Good to Your Gut". Honest to God it's never occurred to me that I should take my gut health seriously. If I do stumble upon health tips (regardless of how useful they might be), I'd usually ignore them. But there is one particular drink which will always be close to my heart and tastebud - VITAGEN! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE VITAGEN!

And yes, we all remember those days when we'd have to fight with our siblings for that one strip of Vitagen in the fridge (Sorry to the only children out there). But man! It is WAR if my parents bought home some Vitagen and my brother and I would race to the fridge to be the first to grab the original flavored ones. It usually ends up with somebody crying and the Vitagen would NEVER get the chance to have its place in the fridge. BYE FELICIA. Anyway, the throwback ends here, in other news, my favourite childhood drink is sponsoring Akademi Fantasia 2016. I don't really watch that show but I heard many good things about it :) Here are some details for you people to read. Enjoy!

VITAGEN Empowers Akademi Fantasia 2016 Contestants’ Transformation from Within
AF2016 Contestants to Benefit From 5-Step Approach To Good Gut Health In Quest for Stardom Through VITAGEN’s Collaboration

VITAGEN, Malaysia’s first and No. 1 cultured milk drink is a key sponsor of Akademi Fantasia (AF) 2016 as it sets out to transform contestants from within to boost their health, and help them manage the considerable stress they will face in their quest for stardom.

VITAGEN’s Deputy General Manager, Mr. Michael Ong (Far Right) and the 14 finalists for Akademi Fantasia 2016.
The AF reality singing competition is well-loved and highly rated, like VITAGEN. Contestants, who are termed as students at the Academy, are coached and groomed to make it in the entertainment industry. Among the successful graduates of AF who have gone on to carve significant careers in the Malaysian entertainment arena are Vince Chong, Mawi, Stacy, Akim, Marsha Londoh, Shahir and many more.

The live telecast of AF2016’s weekly concerts air exclusively on Astro Ria (104) and simulcast on Astro Ria HD (123) every Sunday at 9.00pm from Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) Auditorium starting last Sunday, August 21st, 2016. The daily students’ diary, Diari AF2016 will also be shown on both channels at 6.30pm from Monday to Friday.

VITAGEN will be directly involved in promoting better gut health through fitness and better nutrition, through a healthy living and fitness segment every Tuesday with Coach Cem, a well-known fitness consultant.

Similar to AF’s dominance in promoting new singing talent, VITAGEN has led the way in championing good gut health among Malaysians through education and awareness activities, over the past 40 years.  From school programs, the annual Healthy Digestion Walk and more, VITAGEN has become part of daily Malaysian health and wellness.

VITAGEN’s long-term championing of gut health through its Good Gut Health Awareness campaign is based on research on the role of good bacteria in health, and the beneficial effects of cultured milk with live good bacteria on rebalancing gut flora.

Good health begins from the gut. When we are healthy inside, it shows on the outside.

Good gut flora promotes normal gastrointestinal function, provides protection from infection, regulates metabolism and comprises more than 70% of our immune system. The human gut or digestive system is home to approximately 100,000,000,000,000 (100 trillion) microorganisms, and contains 10 times more bacteria than all the human cells in the entire body, with over 400 known diverse bacterial species.

Many diseases and even stress, seemingly unrelated to our digestive system are actually caused by gut problems. Understanding how the gut works and how to look after it is essential to our health.

VITAGEN contains billions of good bacteria that aid the absorption of nutrients from food and stimulates a stronger immune system. It also assists in suppressing the growth of harmful bacteria, reducing the risk of intestinal disturbances for optimal digestive health.

For the contestants of AF2016, their journey to fame will be a reflection of the Malaysian dream, with these young women and men being filmed and followed around the clock during the two-month duration of the show. The stress and tribulations that they go through will reflect what every Malaysian experiences.

According to VITAGEN’s Deputy General Manager, Mr. Michael Ong the brand is delighted to be working with Akademi Fantasia, due to the many similarities between the two, and the opportunity to reach more people with positive and motivating messages on good gut health, through consuming VITAGEN, better nutrition and fitness.

“The Akademi Fantasia 2016 sponsorship is another extension of our Good Gut Health Awareness campaign. To fortify our brand value of being the good gut expert, VITAGEN is assisting the transformation from within of these contestants for better overall wellness throughout the competition, helping them realise their dreams to be the next superstar.”

VITAGEN’s Good Gut Health Awareness campaign promotes a healthy gut through a five-step approach of consuming live active cultured milk drinks, walking at least 30 minutes daily, consuming 3 to 5 servings of fibre from fruits and veggies, adequate sleep of at least seven to eight hours a day and stress busting strategies.

“We realised that the contestants in AF2016 go through tremendous stress, lack of sleep, demotivation and even unhealthy dietary habits that could jeopardise their gut health. This is why we have stepped in to provide them with professional coaching on good gut health, fitness and nutrition through Coach Cem. By watching how these talented individuals navigate the high-stress conditions, while practising good gut health habits can motivate more viewers to make an important change to their lifestyles. Good health does indeed start with a healthy gut,” said Mr. Ong.

“Our tasty cultured milk drink with live good bacteria will be freely available to them, round the clock, to help them in managing their stress levels through better gut health by rebalancing their good gut bacteria.”

In conjunction with AF2016, VITAGEN will be conducting on-ground promotions at selected retail outlets nationwide including a money-can’t-buy experience – walking the red carpet at the AF2016 finale for two lucky winners and their partners. The winner of this social media contest can have the chance to meet and greet with the AF2016’s champion.
